Allerd de Boer

Never has the saying "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king" been so apt.  In trying to write an short description worthy of this man, I found that the list of superlatives needed to describe both his play and good looks would be way too long.  So this will do.

Gogs

Gordon Henry

After a barren first half of the year, Gordon started having a suspiciously good run of tournament results.  After confirming that "Selling your soul to the devil" was not against the rules, the exec was left with no other option than to make him tournament co-ordinator, hoping that his absence would give the rest a chance of success.  I hope he enjoys his poker, because he will no doubt have a lot of them inserted in him while spending an eternity in hell.

Kat "Fish" Purvis

After resisting the poker bug for a while, Kat finally succumbed.  After tuition from Alex Gardiner and a huge number of hours playing online she has gone from strength to strength. She has great tournament strategy and has one of the best tournament records at the society.

Placing 2nd in the Interpoker.com University Clash thus earning her an $11,300 Caribbean Poker Classic Package is the pinnacle of her poker career to date.

She attributes her achievements over the male members to being able to – as she said in a poker documentary- “**** them over”.

 Patrick McGrath

"My 8-high is good".  Patrick has the curious ability to make his opponent think this.  On every hand.  After going bust against him, players are frequently heard exclaiming:

"I was so unlucky, Pat wasn't bluffing that time" "Really? What a bad beat"

The stud authority of the society (Well, he is the only one who knows the rules), he will no doubt look to make the stud event his own.  He also holds the current record for going from chipleader to bust in the shortest time, breaking the record set the previous week.  By him.

Alex "The Godfather" Gardiner

President 2004-2006

The Godfather of the Poker Society.  Alex and his committee revamped the poker society and introduced the weekly tournaments in 2004/2005.

In 2005/2006 a weekly beginners tournament was introduced.  Alex founded and organised the Edinburgh University Poker Open in December 2005 and negotiated several sponsorship deals.

 David “The Chortling Tortoise” Lashley

It took Dave a few months to find his way to the Poker society probably because of the length of time it takes the tortoise to do anything. Dave is a true artist of making his opponents sweat it out before he folds, (or so he thinks) little does he know that everyone knows he is going to fold before he does.  Dave's play has taken him to a good amount of final tables including a recent VC event where he netted enough dosh to become Britain's 101st richest man.  But since every rich list is only the top 100, there are no photographers camped outside his flat.  Just as well. --->

Nat "The Gimp " Baldwin

Stewart "Harrington" Healey

Widely regarded as the expert on all things poker, Stewart has obtained fame and fortune by co-writing the bestseller "Harrington on Holdem".  Needless to say, lesser mortals are easily confused by terms such as "fold equity" and "number of M". They have realised however that they might as well fold the nuts to him after he bets, because they are drawing to a split.  I guess if luck wasn't involved, he'd win every one!
